Basketball Game Preview: Rocket City Falcons vs. Independent Athletic Ministries Ravens

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Rocket City Falcons duke it out with Independent Athletic Ministries Ravens at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Rocket City is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Back in February, Rocket City came up short against Upper Cumberland and fell 59-49.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was JJ Minnon, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points and six rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Tyler Schlapman was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Rocket City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Independent Athletic Ministries, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 74-42 victory over Heritage Home Scholars. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Independent Athletic Ministries has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. Rocket City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-20.
