Preview: Huntington Highlanders vs. Capital Cougars
The Huntington Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Capital Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Capital took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Huntington, who comes in off a win.
Huntington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took down Spring Valley 94-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Mikey Johnson, who scored 26 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Jayden Clark, who scored 27 points.
Meanwhile, Capital pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Woodrow Wilson by a score of 63-61. Capital has struggled against Woodrow Wilson recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Huntington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Capital, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Huntington strolled past Capital when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 77-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Huntington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
