Basketball Recap: Gothenburg Comes Up Short

Gothenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 60-53 to the Kearney Catholic Stars. The Swedes lost against the Stars in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-29 score last time.

Kearney Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Hogeland out in front who posted 15 points and three blocks. Zac Conner was another key player, putting up 20 points and five rebounds.

Gothenburg's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Kearney Catholic, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

When Gothenburg and Kearney Catholic next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Gothenburg will try to stop Ogallala's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Kearney Catholic will challenge Adams Central and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
