Recap: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Kinston Vikings

The New Hanover Wildcats can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They breezed by Kinston on the road to the tune of 54-24. Given New Hanover's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Kinston is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Hanover found their leader in underclassman Brianna Stanley, who scored 22 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tirema Vereen, who scored ten points along with three steals.

The win makes it two in a row for New Hanover and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Kinston, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hanover will take on Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Topsail focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Kinston, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Duplin at 6:30 p.m. East Duplin's defense has only allowed 25.6 points per game this season, so Kinston's offense will have their work cut out for them.
