Baseball Recap: Etna Takes Down Maxwell in a Playoff Battle

Etna had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Maxwell Panthers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Kyle Fowle, who gave up just two hits to keep Maxwell off the board.

On the hitting side, Noah Hubbard and Clayton Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Hubbard went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Harris went 1-for-3 with one home run. Harris has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmett Stacher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Etna's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Maxwell, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.

Etna wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-6 win against Los Molinos on the 5th. Maxwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
