Baseball Recap: Wayne County Takes a Loss

Wayne County had lost six straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-15 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Purvis Tornadoes by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 on Tuesday.

Wayne County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kollin Ballard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Purvis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Purvis' side, Kade Lawler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Tornadoes beat Wayne County by a score of 11-1 on Saturday.
