Garrard County never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Paul Laurence Dunbar on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Golden Lions, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Emily Hounshell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Hounshell was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Garrard County got a massive performance out of Jazlynn Shelton, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
