Westminster Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins, while St. Brendan is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Warriors will welcome the Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westminster Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Westminster Christian earned a 6-2 victory over Miami Christian.
Kaley Dyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gigi Khoury, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Armenteros, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while St. Brendan put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Mater Lakes Academy. The Sabres blew past the Bears 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Sabres, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
St. Brendan got a massive performance out of Rachel Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Coral Latshaw was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
St. Brendan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
St. Brendan has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westminster Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like St. Brendan struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Westminster Christian's way against St. Brendan when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Westminster Christian made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabres turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
