Basketball Recap: Peyton Takes a Loss

Peyton won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They came up short against the Crowley County Chargers, falling 72-52. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Chargers are ranked 34th).

When it comes to explaining why Peyton lost, don't look at Michael Perry. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 en route to 22 points and six assists. That's the most points Perry has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryce Love, who posted nine points and five boards.

Peyton now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Crowley County, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Peyton has already played their next game, an 81-54 victory against Thomas MacLaren School on the 23rd. As for Crowley County, they will head out to square off against Limon at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Crowley County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
