Basketball Recap: Topsail Starts Season with Victory at Home

Topsail took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They managed a 59-54 win over the Croatan Cougars.

Topsail had a senior duo take command as Mason French posted 13 points and five boards and Luke Redifer put up 12 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Carano, who scored 13 points.

Topsail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Croatan only pulled down nine.

When it comes to explaining why Croatan lost, don't look at Tyler Thorpe. Despite the final result, he earned 14 points and six assists. Gavin Zheng was another key player, putting up six points and seven assists.

Looking ahead, Topsail will welcome Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Croatan will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' game: after the Pirates face off against New Bern, they'll take on Croatan again at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
