Recap: Weir Red Riders vs. Wheeling Park Patriots
The Weir Red Riders pushed their score all the way to 72 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheeling Park. Weir has struggled against Wheeling Park recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Weir lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Cross. Despite the final result, he scored 35 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Cross' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Malachi Stromile, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Weir now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Wheeling Park, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weir will square off against East Liverpool at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheeling Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Huntington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Huntington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
