Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Flashes vs. Beachside Barracudas

The St. Joseph Academy Flashes will head out on the road to take on the Beachside Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

St. Joseph Academy managed to slip by Christ's Church Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Flashes lost 13-2 to the Eagles on Monday. The Flashes' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Beachside posted their closest victory since March 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Kenny, sneaking past 14-12. Considering the Barracudas' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Beachside got a massive performance out of Madden Lutze, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Lutze has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Vita Lagattolla, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Beachside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Joseph Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Beachside, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6.

St. Joseph Academy took their victory against Beachside in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Flashes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Barracudas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
