Baseball Recap: Quincy Find Success

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quincy). They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Belleville West Maroons on Tuesday. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 13-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kade Parkhill and Trace Routh did most of the damage at the plate: Parkhill scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Routh scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were Routh's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Lawson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Quincy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Belleville West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quincy will face off against Kirksville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Belleville West, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Mater Dei at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
