Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.) extended its winning streak to nine games with a 64-21 victory over Tolleson (Ariz.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Tyler Whiley in the first quarter, the Firebirds led 57-6 at the half.
Chaparral grew its lead to 59 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Chandler Fox to
Israel Simpson.
29 points in the first quarter helped the Scottsdale school lead 29-7 after one on the way to a win.
Chaparral's standout player in the win was Whiley. The senior wide receiver ran for two touchdowns and caught two touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
The Wolverines came in surrendering 15.5 points per game this season. Tolleson struggled against Chaparral's offense, which entered the game scoring 45.9 points per game.
The loss comes after Tolleson defeated Camelback 55-6 last week. The loss snapped Tolleson's three-game winning streak.
