Baseball Recap: Lawrence Academy Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Lawrence Academy got themselves on the board against Albemarle School on Thursday, but Albemarle School never followed suit. They came out on top against the Colts by a score of 17-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Creek Johnson looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Lawrence Academy: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hunter Eason was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Lawrence Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Simon Lundy, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Lawrence Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Albemarle School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence Academy will challenge Rocky Mount Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Albemarle School, they will take on Pungo Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
