It might be best for any basketball team that manages to defeat Galena Park North Shore (Houston) this season to avoid a rematch.
The Mustangs (25-3), ranked No. 3 in MaxPreps Texas Top 25, last week avenged their only District 21-5A loss, routing Memorial (Port Arthur) 83-50.
Memorial on its home court surprised North Shore, 78-72, on Jan. 3.
The pattern is familiar. Atascocita (Humble) handed North Shore its first loss of the season, 67-65, on Nov. 15. The teams met a month later with a far different outcome. The Mustangs prevailed, 63-45.
Since losing at Memorial, David Green's team has won seven straight district games — the smallest winning margin being 22 points.
A pair of juniors are North Shore's top scorers: 6-3
Kerwin Roach (16.5) and 6-4
Jarrey Foster (12.1). Seniors
Brandon Etienne,
Jalin Hart and
Brandon Green are averaging slightly over eight points.
Foster leads the team in rebounding and Hart is the assist leader.
Joining this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25 are Trinity (Euless) and Clear Lake (Houston).
