George Wythe had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Auburn on Friday. The Maroons claimed a resounding  61-27 win over the Eagles. Considering the Maroons have won three matchups by more than 33  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Caiden Clark, who rushed for 89 yards and one  touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 68 yards and one  TD.  Cameron Branch was another key player, picking up 105 receiving yards and one  score.
George Wythe has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 38.2 points over those games. As for Auburn,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-4.
 George Wythe and Auburn will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next  contests. The next time the Maroons see the field they'll take on Giles  at 7:00  p.m.  on November 7. As for Auburn, their break will end when they face Grayson County  at 7:00  p.m.  on  the 31st.
