Baseball Recap: Escondido Has No Trouble Against San Dieguito Academy

Escondido never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryder Taylor and Ace Sanchez were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Taylor didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Sanchez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Taylor went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Sanchez got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Sanchez a new career-high.

In other batting news, Andrew Carrilo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Hermsen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Escondido was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Dieguito Academy only posted a batting average of .087.

The victory snapped Escondido's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-6 record. As for San Dieguito Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-17 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Escondido will take on Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Dieguito Academy, they will challenge Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
