Baseball Game Preview: Ashdown Panthers vs. Genoa Central Dragons

The Ashdown Panthers will take on the Genoa Central Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ashdown's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Bismarck as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Gunnar Altenbaumer and Walt Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Altenbaumer went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Jones scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Wood Walton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Genoa Central's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Centerpoint with a sharp 9-0 win.

Genoa Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Ashdown, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
