Football Recap: Bartlett Yancey Comes Up Short

Bartlett Yancey extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were outmatched by the Walkertown Wolfpack and fell 54-23. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Wolfpack are ranked 115th).

As for Walkertown, their record is now 5-1. Considering they have won four games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Walkertown was led to victory by Jerrell Crawford and Nasir Conrad. Crawford threw for 179 yards and three TDs, while Conrad rushed for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Camereon Cartlidge, who rushed for 33 yards and two scores.

Coming up, Bartlett Yancey will head out to square off against Rockingham County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Walkertown, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against McMichael at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
