Football Game Preview: Teague Lions vs. Huntington Red Devils

The Teague Lions will face off against the Huntington Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Teague will be strutting in after a win while Huntington will be coming in after a loss.

Teague took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Westwood as they made off with a 42-20 victory. Considering the Lions' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Teague's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Garrett Winkler, who threw for 320 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per attempt. Those 320 passing yards gave Winkler a new career-high. Bryce Bates was Winkler's top target, picking up 126 receiving yards and three scores.

Teague was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Huntington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a hard 35-18 fall against Crockett. The Red Devils were down 28-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

With the win, Teague broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4. As for Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Teague against Huntington when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 57-13 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
