Softball Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Clemens Buffaloes

The Johnson Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Clemens Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson will be strutting in after a victory while Clemens will be coming in after a loss.

Clemens will be up against a hot Johnson team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Jaguars came out on top against La Vernia by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday.

Bridgett Alviar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Emree Massaad was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinlee McGuire, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Clemens fell victim to Canyon and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Buffaloes were not able to get on the board.

Johnson pushed their record up to 18-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clemens, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Johnson beat Clemens 5-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
