Basketball Recap: Tomahawk Comes Up Short

If Tomahawk was feeling good fresh off their 59-39 takedown of Montello last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tomahawk Hatchets opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-38 loss to the Merrill Bluejays.

Tomahawk has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Merrill, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.

Tomahawk and Merrill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Tomahawk (ranked 234th) will meet Lakeland (ranked 45th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Merrill will face off against Stevens Point at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday down 332 places (400 vs. 68).
