Nelson will face off against the Barlow Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Nelson has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Nelson managed to slip by Gresham the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Nelson lost 17-8 to Gresham on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Nelson has suffered since April 16th.
Abigail Huspek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Osterholm, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Barlow's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let Sandy get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted against the Pioneers since May 1, 2019.
The result came thanks to Kaylee Pokorny 2025's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Charliann Renner 2025 was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Katie Jordaine 2026 also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Barlow has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Nelson, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.
Both Nelson and Barlow just can't seem to miss. Nelson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Barlow struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
