Calvary Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Calvary Academy of the 4-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.
Tony DiChiara was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. DiChiara was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gavin Bruff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI. Another player making a difference was Christian Fraumeni, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
