Baseball Recap: College Park Gets the Win

College Park's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Liberty Patriots. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

James Voorhies was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because College Park is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Voorhies was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Jack Carpenter and Connor Berkowitz did most of the damage at the plate: Carpenter went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Berkowitz went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Carpenter a new career-high.

College Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

College Park now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Liberty, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Coming up, College Park will face off against Clayton Valley Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they will square off against Granite Bay at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
