Soccer Game Preview: South Aiken vs. Gilbert

The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will head out to square off against the Gilbert Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. South Aiken will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.

South Aiken is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Airport get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2022, but that streak is no more.

South Aiken hit Airport with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Briella O'Quinn (2), Zoe Schifer (2), Madee Whittle (2), and Adriana Sansonese.

Meanwhile, Gilbert was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Gilbert who was credited with the victory. Gilbert got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Aiken's three. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Fighting Green Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

South Aiken now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gilbert, their record is now 2-0.

South Aiken was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilbert in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 2-0. Will South Aiken repeat their success, or does Gilbert have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
