Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anna Tolley and Ella Keen Lead Roane County to Victory

Roane County waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Ritchie County Rebels 52-35. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 55-18 victory the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2021.

Roane County was led to victory by Ella Keen and Anna Tolley. Keen went 5-for-7 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds, while Tolley went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Tolley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Braylin Bowe, who posted 11 points.

Roane County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups.

Ritchie County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elsa Law, who put up 12 points and four steals. That was a full 34.3% of Ritchie County's points, marking the fourth time in a row Law has earned more than a third of the team's points. Chelsie Jeffrey was another key player, putting up six points and 11 rebounds.

Roane County's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Ritchie County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Roane County will be playing in front of their home fans against Clay County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ritchie County, they will head out on the road to square off against Doddridge County at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
