Football Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Falls to Stratford Academy in First Game of Season

St. Anne-Pacelli kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Stratford Academy Eagles, falling 49-17. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Carino, who rushed for 74 yards and one TD.

Stratford Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tucker Johnston, who threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 59 yards and a pair of scores. The Eagles' leading receiver Jett Johnston was Tucker's top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

Coming up, St. Anne-Pacelli will be playing at home against Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stratford Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pinewood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th.
