Softball Recap: Hickory Takes Down Ranked Great Bridge

Hickory faced Great Bridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Wildcats. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Hickory pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Great Bridge, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory will head out to face off against Godwin at 11:30 a.m. on the 19th. As for Great Bridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Currituck County at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st.
