Football Recap: Skyline Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Skyline extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Zayden Burks. The Hawks walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Brentsville District Tigers on Friday thanks in part to Burks, who rushed for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Skyline is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Skyline didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Burks. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 124 rushing yards. Jonathan Leach was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making nine total tackles.

Skyline's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Brentsville District, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Burks and Duke Dawson. Meanwhile, Brentsville District is set to face off against their familiar foe Warren County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
