Basketball Game Preview: Miamisburg Vikings vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

Miamisburg is on an eight-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Northmont a four-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Saturday. The Miamisburg Vikings will welcome the Northmont Thunderbolts at 1:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Thursday, 2025 welcomed Miamisburg with a 55-34 loss courtesy of Waynesville. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Spartans are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, Northmont played a tough match two weeks ago in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Fairmont 68-12. The contest marked the Thunderbolts' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Northmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Miamisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Miamisburg strolled past Northmont in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 52-35. Will Miamisburg repeat their success, or does Northmont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
