Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for El Capitan

There's no place like home for El Capitan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against Pinon on Thursday as El Capitan made off with a 12-2 win. With that victory, El Capitan brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Danni Waters was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Gracie Castor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ruth Timpson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

El Capitan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

El Capitan pushed their record up to 5-8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.8 runs. As for Pinon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: El Capitan beat Pinon by a score of 12-2 later that day.
