Recap: South Kingstown Rebels vs. Westerly Bulldogs
On Friday, The South Kingstown Rebels faced the Westerly Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. South Kingstown took a hard 31-13 fall against Westerly. South Kingstown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westerly's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Husereau, who threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Luke Nelson was another key contributor, picking up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
South Kingstown's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Barrington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.8% over those games). As for Westerly, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
South Kingstown will head out on the road to face off against St. Raphael Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (St. Raphael Academy is ranked tenth, while South Kingstown is ranked 13th). As for Westerly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Burrillville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
