Purvis hadn't done well against Sumrall recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tornadoes took their game with ease, bagging a 58-24 win over the Bobcats. The team accrued 47 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.

Purvis can attribute much of their success to TaShaun Gray, who posted 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Robinson, who put up six points.

Purvis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Purvis pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Sumrall, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purvis will challenge Mendenhall at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tornadoes will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Sumrall, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Presbyterian Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
