Volleyball Recap: Rosholt Takes a Loss

Rosholt entered their contest against Pacelli on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hornets took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Rosholt started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-21.

Marlee Krekling paced Rosholt's offense, picking up eight kills. Krekling got some help from Elizabeth Trzinski and her 19 assists. Trzinski was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Pacelli's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Zdroik, who had 20 digs and two aces. Zdroik is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Paige Marschke was another key player, getting 21 digs and two assists.

Rosholt's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-8. As for Pacelli, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.

Rosholt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Spencer on the 27th. As for Pacelli, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Two Rivers on the 27th.
