Recap: Foothill Falcons vs. San Tan Charter Roadrunners
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Foothill Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 88-85 win over San Tan Charter. Foothill's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Shawn Salazar was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 3 assists. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zak Abdalla, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, San Tan Charter saw an underclassman step up: Peyton Lubash scored 24 points. The match was Lubash's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylen Bonner, who scored 16 points.
Foothill's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for San Tan Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Foothill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary's at 1:00 p.m. on December 9th. St. Mary's is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. San Tan Charter will take on Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while San Tan Charter is ranked 53rd).
