Baseball Recap: Lemon Bay Beats Labelle for Their Third Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lemon Bay had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Manta Rays have posted since March 5th.

Drew Smith tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Lemon Bay's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Bush, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The victory (which was Lemon Bay's third in a row) raised their record to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for LaBelle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

Coming up, Lemon Bay will challenge Island Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Manta Rays 4, the Gators 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
