Baseball Recap: Rye Has No Trouble Against Rangely

Rye lost to Rangely back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Thunderbolts put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 19-3 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Thunderbolts as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Pierce Burris made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Max Rocha was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Gray, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Rye always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Rye's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Rangely, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Coming up, Rye is taking a road trip to take on Hoehne at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rangely, they will take on Monte Vista in a tournament on Saturday.
