Preview: Thorndale Bulldogs vs. Holland Hornets
The Thorndale Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Holland Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Thorndale has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Holland will arrive with six straight victories.
Thorndale's 9-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 35-22 to Weimar on Friday.
Meanwhile, Holland got the win against Thrall on Friday by a conclusive 41-21.
Among those leading the charge was Christian Ray Michalek, who punched in three rushing scores.
Thorndale's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Granger and 5-2 Weimar (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.9% over those games). As for Holland, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0.
Thorndale came out on top in a nail-biter against Holland when the teams last played back in October of 2022, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thorndale since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
