Softball Recap: 20 Straight Home Wins for Emmaus

After losing to Whitehall the last time they met, Emmaus decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hornets came out on top against the Zephyrs by a score of 4-1 on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery DeFanti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Emmaus pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whitehall, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-4 record.

Emmaus and Whitehall should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 46th) will meet Parkland (ranked 225th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Emmaus 2.4, the Trojans 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Whitehall will face off against Allentown Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (82 vs. 428).
