Recap: Del Sol Dragons vs. Basic Wolves
The Del Sol Dragons pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Basic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Del Sol in their matchups with Basic: they've now lost six in a row.
Del Sol lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kasire Johnson, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Todd Fox, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Del Sol struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Basic pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Leading Basic to victory were Kelani Stafford and Alvonte' Nelson. Stafford scored eight points along with two steals, while Nelson scored ten points along with two steals. Saiah Minnis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Del Sol dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Del Sol won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Legacy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Basic, they will head out on the road to take on Green Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Green Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
