Hulbert took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Riders had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Riders, who have now won eight contests in a row.

Ethan Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Weston Jenkins and Logan Beeler did most of the damage at the plate: Jenkins got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, while Beeler scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Beeler a new career-high. Ty Wynn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Hulbert's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Hulbert will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
