Robert C. Byrd took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They strolled past Lincoln with points to spare, taking the game 47-29.

Meanwhile, Preston unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by University 81-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Knights came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Hawks are ranked 110th).

Robert C. Byrd will need focus on slowing down Kash Jenkins, one of several Preston players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Hayes, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Robert C. Byrd's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Preston, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Robert C. Byrd didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Preston in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robert C. Byrd since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
