Basketball Recap: Amite Starts off Right with Win over Maurepas

Amite gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Maurepas Wolves with a sharp 70-50 win. The Warriors pushed the score to 59-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolves cut but never quite recovered from.

Amite's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Tavien Brumfield, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Moore, who went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Amite was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maurepas fell to 6-1.

Amite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-66 win against Loranger on the 19th. As for Maurepas, they will be playing at home against Christ Episcopal School at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
