Basketball Game Preview: Pekin Dragons vs. Metamora Redbirds

Pekin is 1-9 against Metamora since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pekin Dragons will head out to square off against the Metamora Redbirds at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Pekin is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Morton, falling 70-46. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Potters are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Metamora was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 66-62 to Normal Community.

Metamora's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Pekin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Pekin lost to Metamora on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Pekin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
