Saratoga waltzed into their game on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Fremont Firebirds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.
Saira Ramakrishnan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alaina Retamoso, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Tham was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Saratoga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fremont only managed five hits.
Saratoga pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fremont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.
As of now, neither Saratoga nor the Firebirds have any future games scheduled.
