Football Recap: St. Mary's Prep's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against De La Salle Collegiate last Friday, St. Mary's Prep came back down to earth. The match between the Eaglets and the Catholic Central Shamrocks didn't end well, with the Eaglets falling 29-14. The Eaglets have struggled against the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Catholic Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samson Gash, who picked up 89 receiving yards and two scores. Duke Banta was another key signal caller, throwing for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Mary's Prep fell to 3-1. As for Catholic Central, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Detroit Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Catholic Central, they will square off against De La Salle Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Shamrocks will be up against the Pilots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
