Basketball Recap: Hope Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Hope Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They came out on top against the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors by a score of 65-53.

Leading Hope Academy to victory were Willie Griggs and Dwayne Foreman III. Griggs almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Foreman III dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists. Griggs has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 21 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Prince Portfield, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Hope Academy's record now sits at 9-2. As for Orlando Christian Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Hope Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Hope Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. Orlando Christian Prep and St. George's will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th.
