League recap: Steinbrenner rises in state rank

7A District 7 recap September 24, 2013

Steinbrenner scaled the state rankings by moving to 235 from 269 this week, the biggest jump in 7A District 7. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Sickles 44-17.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Gryphons beat Steinbrenner 44-17,. The victory was the fourth in a row for Sickles.

Issac Holder and Ray Ray McCloud III gave Brian Turner's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Holder threw for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns, while McCloud III ran for 185 yards. Justin Harris also contributed to the rushing game with 29 yards on the ground.

Holder put up the best numbers in passing as Sickles topped Andres Perez-Reinaldo's team. Holder's favorite target this week was Chett Levay, who caught 6 passes for 104 yards.

McCloud III was the best running back in the league this week.

Mark Hutchinson was the best receiver in 7A District 7 this week as Wiregrass Ranch lost to Tampa Bay Tech. Hutchinson tallied 6 receptions for 102 yards.

Sickles' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gryphons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Holder has thrown for 674 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Jaaron Barrett has 11 catches for 285 yards.

The Bulls fell to the Titans 32-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hutchinson in the loss.
